3. FROM SULBIATE TO CRESPI D'ADDA (20 km, flat)

From Sulbiate you ride through the countryside to Cornate d’Adda. Here, a nice cycle path leads to the village of Porto and down to the banks of the river; finally, after a short but steep slope paved with river pebbles, you reach the Bertini power plant where you can take the cycle lane “dell’alzaia” to Trezzo.  This is the final part of an 8 km path that runs along the canal and the locks that were built in the 1700s by the Austrians, based on a sketch that Leonardo created two centuries before. The locks were functional until the 1920s and allowed boats to navigate the Adda, overtaking its unevenness with 9 basins.

4. FROM SULBIATE TO MILAN (50 km, flat)

From Sulbiate, you ride through the countryside to Mezzago and Cornate d’Adda. In the hamlet of Villa Paradiso, a steep slope leads to the Adda, right after the Esterle power plant, at the end of the canal of Paderno. Here the cycle path runs along the river, flat and navigable for 8 more kilometres down to the wonderful Taccani power plant, built on a large river bend right below the medieval castle of Trezzo. Through Vaprio d’Adda and Cassano, the cycle path runs along the Martesana canal and leads right to the centre of Milan.
