DAY 1
Paderno - Sulbiate (A) / Cornate d’Adda (B)

Individual arrival at the Agriturismo in Sulbiate (A) or at the train station of Paderno-Robbiate in Paderno d’Adda (B)
10 AM: welcome by our staff, who takes care of your luggage, gives you roadbook and information about your journey and bikes. After that you can start your bike tour independently.
In Paderno d'Adda you enter the Adda bike path and head north towards the ancient ferry by Leonardo da Vinci in Imbersago; then you reach Brivio and its small harbor, where you can have lunch. After that you get back to Paderno d'Adda where the Paderno canal starts and runs along the Adda river, with its sluice gates by Leonardo, the Madonna della Rocchetta shrine, the historical hydroelectric power plants. You arrive in Cornate d'Adda and if you chose option B you reach Bed & Breakfast Restaurant "Al Castello", while if you chose option A you leave the Adda bike path and reach Sulbiate to start your spa experience at the Agriturismo.

DAY 2
Sulbiate (A) / Cornate d'Adda (B) – Crespi d’Adda, a late 19th century Workers' Village, Unesco World Heritage site

In Cornate d'Adda you enter the Adda bike path and reach Trezzo sull'Adda, with the Castle and the Taccani historical hydroelectric power plant, then you head towards Crespi d’Adda, a late 19th century Workers' Village, Unesco World Heritage site, where you can have lunch. Then if you chose option A you get back to the Agriturismo in Sulbiate, if you chose option B you get back to the Paderno-Robbiate train station where we bring you your luggage and take the bikes.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS

The bike path along the route of the Adda river and Martesana and Paderno canals, is an easy, flat, sometimes unpaved path. Recommended for all types of bicycle.

After that you can start your bike tour independently: from Paderno d'Adda to Trezzo d'Adda and back. Return by bike at the Paderno train station to catch a train to Milan in the afternoon.

TOUR DESCRIPTION

You will cycle through the places where Leonardo da Vinci studied Adda rapids and the way to bypass the not navigable part of the river in order to transport by water building materials from Valtellina valley to Milan. You will admire the environment that inspired him while painting the backgrounds of his famous “Vergine delle rocce” and “Gioconda”. You will cycle along the sluice gates and the canals of the “Naviglio di Paderno”, builded in the 18th century on the basis of the studies Leonardo da Vinci did. Others man-made wonders you’ll see: the “Ponte di San Michele”, a single arch bridge with visual similarities with the Eiffel Tower style (the highest in Europe when it was built at the end of the 19th century); the wonderful historical hydroelectric power plants Bertini, Esterle and Taccani, that provided the city of Milan with electric energy.
